| Latest Successful Philanthro Productions Event Draws Hundreds of Young Adults in Support of Architecture For Humanity LA Proceeds from GLOW: Party for a Greener Future to give low income housing an environmentally-friendly facelift LOS ANGELES (April 26, 2008) – Philanthro Productions, a non-profit that creates unique opportunities for young adults to engage in charitable action, today announced results from its latest benefit party on Friday, April 25. GLOW: Party for a Greener Future generated a $6,000 contribution to benefit Architecture for Humanity Los Angeles (AFH LA), the local branch of Architecture for Humanity, a national non-profit organization that seeks innovative solutions to humanitarian crises and brings sustainable design services to communities in need. Funds from GLOW will be allocated to AFH LA’s Project Green Design, a program that will promote sustainability by retrofitting low income housing in Los Angeles. “On Friday night, Philanthro was able to engage 700 young adults. We had Santa Monica’s V Lounge past capacity,” said Jason Lee, 26, Philanthro’s Chief Operating Officer. “These attendance figures clearly show that our generation wants to support innovative charities like AFH LA make a difference in their own backyard.” Philanthro energized the crowd by serving up raffle prizes, providing free glow-paint body painting and bringing back popular DJ Tony Collage of Power 106 FM. Special “green” guest speaker Professor Danny Widener from UC San Diego spoke to the engaged crowd, while specialty cocktails from drink sponsor VeeV, the first carbon neutral alcohol brand, and a free bike valet helped promote sustainable lifestyle habits among partygoers. “The event raised key funding, and partnering with Philanthro gave us access to an important captive audience, who was there to learn about our cause and have a great time while doing it,” said Mike Patterson, 26, founder, AFH LA. “We’ll build on the momentum from the event as we move forward with Project Green Design.” AFH LA’s Project Green Design will roll out this summer. Simple,
effective modifications such as water-saving fixtures and solar panels
will be implemented in collaboration with residents, in order to also
promote sustainable design education. Philanthro will continue its support
by encouraging young adults to volunteer for AFH LA’s Urban Area
Clean-Up project on July 12, helping to create a healthier, more sustainable
LA community. About Philanthro Productions (www.philanthroproductions.org): About Architecture for Humanity
