Philanthro Productions announces expansion to San Diego; debut event to benefit Invisible Children

San Diego, CA – (May 16, 2007) – Philanthro Productions, a Los Angeles-based non-profit that hosts first-class social events to connect young adults to charitable causes, has expanded to San Diego. The San Diego chapter has already partnered with renowned non-profit Invisible Children for its premiere event, slated for July 2007.

The new chapter’s opening night festivities – to be held in the Gaslamp Quarter of downtown San Diego – will be another landmark occasion in an already exciting debut summer for Philanthro Productions. “The amount of momentum we are building is incredible,” says co-founder Ian Lee, 25. “We are thrilled about San Diego, as it will be the first of many steps in expanding the Philanthro organization and brand.”

The timing for the formation of the new chapter couldn’t have been better. The founder of Philanthro Productions San Diego, Alisa Le, 22, already had plans to host a large party to benefit Invisible Children, a non-profit organization that helps war-affected children of Northern Uganda. After having organized several other smaller-scale events in the past, Alisa knew that she wanted to develop a repeatable model for holding larger charitable events. Fate intervened when Alisa received an e-mail from Ian about Philanthro Productions, then a startup non-profit organization.

“When I heard what Ian and Andrew [Geisse, Lee’s partner] were up to, it encouraged me to think big,” says Alisa. “I’m excited to help extend such a successful social vehicle down to San Diego to benefit an exceptional charity.”

The Philanthro Productions team in San Diego is currently recruiting young professionals and collegiate leaders from the area.
